The IBA China/Japan is an intensive, 3- or 5-day course designed specifically for Western professionals who do business with Japanese or Chinese colleagues and customers.

OBJECTIVES
Participants will learn to:

• Recognize key cultural differences between US and Chinese and Japanese business persons, differences that often hinder clear communication.
• Learn to make necessary adjustments for  successful presentations, meetings, and negotiations.

CURRICULUM
The IBA curriculum focuses on internationally accepted skills and formats for public speaking. The approach includes:

• General cross-cultural training for China/Japan including historical background and cultural emphasis.
• Specific emphasis in cross-cultural, practical business strategies in presentation, meetings, and negotiations for China/Japan.
  
• Specific training in customs and manners related to business socializing in both cultures.

METHOD
The IBA China/Japan involves lecture, student practice, drill, and supervised preparation. Practice sessions based on realistic case studies are provided in the areas of presentation skills, meetings, and negotiations. This is followed by supervised group critique sessions for participants to evaluate their own performance. Such feedback provides an outstanding opportunity for learning and improvement. Native Japanese and Chinese guest lecturers are also scheduled to make brief presentations and take questions during the course.

SCHEDULE
The IBA China/Japan is an intensive course offered in your choice of 3 or 5 consecutive business days. The 5-day schedule focuses on both Chinese and Japanese business cultures. The 3-day schedule focuses on your choice of either Japan or China.  The schedule for each day is 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with one-hour lunch and one-hour evening breaks. The last day ends at 6:00 p.m.

LOCATION
For your convenience, the IBA China/Japan is offered at your office location in the USA , Europe, China, and Japan.

PARTICIPANTS
Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 8 to 12 participants.

FACULTY
Our IBA China/Japan instructor has been teaching since 1983 and a resident of Tokyo since 1990. There, he has specialized in teaching international business presentation. A native English speaker, he is a licensed educator at the university and secondary levels and holds a Master's degree in English literature and a certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
