MINIMUM
CHARGE: $150
This is necessary to cover basic operating and
administrative costs. Even if a translation is
very short, there is still a basic amount of project management and translation
work involved.
PROOFREADING: usually 25%-50% of translation cost
Proofreading (checking for
translation errors) is performed by a separate,
equally well-qualified English League translator.
This helps ensure quality and accuracy. No translator
is 100% correct all of the time, so we highly
recommend this service for all translations.
FILM
SCRIPTS & SCREENPLAYS:
Rates adjusted
per project
This type of translation is a highly skilled business,
requiring the use of specialized translators of
a distinctly literary background. A tremendous
challenge is posed by the task of translating
colloquial dialogue in a naturally flowing style,
and relocating the characters, their personalities
intact, to a different linguistic and cultural
context - all while remaining as faithful as possible
to the creative vision of the author. Such work
is not achieved overnight, and the script will
inevitably undergo several revisions before the
final translated version is approved. Our rates
for this work depend on the nature of your project.

TECHNICAL
& SCIENTIFIC DOCUMENTS: add 40%
These documents require specialized translators,
professionals in their own fields of technology
or science. A higher salary is needed for translators
with such specialized knowledge and for such detail-oriented
work. Technical and scientific documents include
(partial list): electrical or construction documents;
medical and biological documents; software- and
hardware-related documents; work and safety guides;
internal reports.
LEGAL
DOCUMENTS: add 25% to 50%
Legal documents require additional checking of
the translation for accuracy - the translation
must be rigorously checked against the original
several times. It is also necessary to check key
legal terminology and phrase structures so as
to ensure that the translated document is an entirely
faithful reproduction of the original.
CHANGES
& MODIFICATION REQUESTS: minimum $150
Although any errors or omissions in our translation
will be corrected free of charge, there will be
an extra minimum charge per request for newly
added source text or modifications made during
or after our translation process. To minimize
this surcharge, send us all of your requests for
changes, modifications, and additions at one time
in one document.
FAXED
DOCUMENTS: add $90/hour manual labor
These receive a manual labor surcharge because
faxed documents need to be keyed into the computer
manually before translation can begin. A way to
avoid this surcharge is to submit your document
electronically, already typed in.
HARD
COPY DOCUMENTS: add $90/hour manual labor
Hard copy documents (as opposed to computer files)
receive a surcharge because we will need to manually
type them into the computer before translation
can begin. A way to avoid this surcharge is to
submit your document electronically.
HANDWRITTEN
DOCUMENTS: add $90/hour manual labor
As with faxes and hard copies, handwritten documents
need to be keyed into the computer manually before
translation can begin. These are the most difficult
documents to deal with, as in some cases even
deciphering the handwriting can be a major problem.
A way to avoid this surcharge is to submit your
document electronically, already typed in.
EDITING
OF ORIGINAL SOURCE DOCUMENT: starts at $90/hour
A clear and error-free original document is the
most important factor in ensuring a good translation.
When you send us your document for translation,
we will let you know whether it needs editing
(for typos, repeated or missing text, jumbled
format, and other errors) before any work is started.
If you choose, we can edit the original document
for you starting at $50/hour, or you may perform
your own editing.
All rates are in US dollars. |
